Irini Skopeliti received a B.Sc. from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and a M.Sc. from the Program of Basic and Applied Cognitive Science both from the University of Athens. She completed her PhD in Cognitive Developmental Psychology at the University of Athens. From 2013 to 2024 she served as a faculty member at the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education at the University of Patras. She is an elected member in the Executive Board of the Hellenic Cognitive Science Society (President) and of the Hellenic Psychological Society (General Secretary).
Her research interests focus on cognitive development, on learning processes and mechanisms in the science learning, on conceptual change, and on epistemic and educational beliefs of pre-service and in-service educators. She has participated in funded international and national research programs as a researcher and also as a supervisor. She has published articles in scientific journals and in edited volumes, which correspond to a significant number of citations.
