Jean Christianidis is Professor of History of Mathematics. He teaches courses on History of Mathematics
in the Dpt. of History and Philosophy of Science and the Dpt. of Mathematics, National and Kapodistrian
University of Athens, and on History of Premodern Science in the Dpt. of History and Philosophy of
Science. He is Partner Member at Centre de recherches d’histoire des sciences et des techniques
“Alexandre-Koyré” (Paris), Corresponding Member at Académie Internationale d’Histoire des Sciences,
and National Member at International Commission on the History of Mathematics. He has been visiting
professor at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris), and research scholar at Université
Paris I (Panthéon – Sorbonne), Centre de recherche en histoire des sciences (Cité des sciences et de
l’industrie, La Villette, Paris), Centre International de Rencontres Mathématiques (Luminy, Marseille),
and Fondation des Treilles (Tourtour, France). He has been Member of the Ephorate at State General
Archives of Greece (2017-20), and Alternate Member of the Supervisory Committee at Hellenic Institute
of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice (2018-20). He was for 27 years (1994-2021) editor-in-
chief of Neusis, the Greek journal for the history and philosophy of science and technology, and he is co-
editor of the series «Ancient Scientific Literature» (Crete University Press).
